We are just five guys going to Uganda to see where God takes us and to see who He puts in our path to meet. We believe that if we show up and are willing...God will use us. . This is not about us, but about the orphaned children who are growing up and dying in poverty and disease.
This letter was given to me (Chris) through the vehicle window during our departure from Omega school. We were surrounded by a sea of children who were trying to say goodbye and this tiny hand came through the window. I caught eyes with the child not knowing the content of the letter. All I can describe the look as is one of help. Even after years of critical incidents and seeing personal tragedy, this will be one memory burned in the heart. In a few seconds at best of chaotic excitment came a quiet voice for help.
Someone said why go? You can’t change much. While this may be true in some sense it is not true for the ones we do reach. Not true for the heart of the child who wrote this letter. If hope and opportunity can be restored to one...it is all worth it. It could be you or me in his shoes...
